The east-facing house is sited along a high bank, with a wonderful view of the water. The house creates a simple glazed living space that opens up to become a front porch to the beautiful Hood Canal. I am sure you could find the perfect cut of beef for your holiday dinner or New Year celebration in the butcher case at Local Yocal, too.The Port Ludlow Residence is a compact, 2400 SF modern house located on a wooded waterfront property at the north end of the Hood Canal, a long, fjord-like arm of western Puget Sound. It is so tender and delicious, you need to take it easy on the sauce on this one so you don’t cover up the delicious flavor. My family’s favorite Local Yocal product is the Wagyu brisket. Local Yocal enjoys an excellent reputation among the local merchants, with their beef being served at Square Burger in McKinney and several restaurants in Dallas including The Porch, The Front Room and Hibiscus. We decided we wanted more confidence in knowing what we were really buying and consuming, so we took production into our own hands, and that passion is what lies behind what we are bringing to our store and your families! – Matt, Local Yocal By encouraging cooperation among local ranchers Matt was able to create Local Yocal, where you can purchase the freshest, local, grass-raised beef available in the area. When Matt Hamilton realized that local beef producers faced the almost impossible challenge of having their product processed on a small scale, he set out to change that. Speaking of using local ingredients at home, how about locally raised, grass-fed beef, processed on site and moved right into the butcher case? That’s exactly the scenario at Local Yocal in downtown McKinney. And if you like your sandwiches more traditional, you might agree with The Food Network Magazine that the Hickory Smoked Ham, Smoked Cheddar Cheese, Jalapeno Jelly, and Jalapeno Cheddar Loaf sandwich is the best in Texas.Īfter you’ve finished your sandwich, and the complimentary cookie that comes with it, you can pick up some of the very same local ingredients that Robert uses to increase your use of local ingredients at home. Go try the Spaghetti Squash, TX Goat Cheese, Sweet Onion, Dinosaur Kale, Walnut Pesto, Sourdough sandwich. – Patina Greenīut not only does Patina Green have local food, they have darn good local food. We celebrate and respect the farms and animals it comes from, the people who grew it, raised it, and prepared it. Robert is the Market chef and prepares locally sourced, ethically produced food daily. Run by Robert and Kaci Lyford and Luann Van Winckel, Patina Green has a vintage home store with treasures from across the world and a Market and lunch counter to die for. While I’m not sure who “started” the McKinney local food movement, it first came to my attention when Patina Green opened several years back. Several of our local merchants have figured out how to combine these benefits with plain old deliciousness, so I’m pretty excited to see the movement taking off. There are many benefits to eating locally, including freshness, seasonality and a smaller impact on the environment. If you’ve spent much time in Historic Downtown McKinney, you’ve probably noticed that we have a bit of local food movement going on here.
